I en international målestok, når man snakker motorcykel offroad racing eliten - bliver det meget svært at finde et tilsvarende event på europæisk niveau som kan matche dette "Proximus Superbiker på Mettet 2008"

Det er yderst sjældent at nogen arrangører formår at trække de amerikanske topkørere til Europa for at dyste på talentet.

Penge, teams og sponsorer i USA, har altid gjort at konkurrence og berømmelse er mere end rigeligt til at de bliver hjemme. Og samtidig er et "Verdensmesterskab" i en amerikansk topkører's sfære noget som foregår på hjemmebane.

Mettet 2008 - Massiv Stjerne Fokusering

Til dette benhårde racing event, har vi foreløbigt fra Danmark: Mikkel Caprani, Randers Motorsport - som deltager på hans Aprilia SXV Supermotard motorcykel. Samtidig kan du herunder læse pressemeddelser fra arrangørerne i Belgien:

The 22nd Proximus Superbiker will take place on the well-known circuit Jules Tacheny de Mettet on 17th – 18th and 19th October.

A popular competition that started in 1987 and now has a international fame.

Let’s take a look how the organizers manage to recruit all those pilots, such as Stefan Everts, Jeff Ward, Pichon, Chambon, Fiorentino, Philippaerts, Dymond, Corser…

Jeff Ward is one of the rare pilots who excels in both disciplines motocross and Indy-car. He is 7 times champion in the MX Cross of the USA and was 3rd at the famous 500 miles of Indianapolis. Recently he won the Supermotard Gold Medal of the X-Games in L.A.

Last year this living legend sent out a team to find out how those Europeans were doing on a race track. Cassidy Anderson and Micky Diamond still don’t believe it : wwooowww … only champions in Mettet ! A good reason for Jeff Ward to come over and beat those Europeans.

We all know Stefan Everts, 10x world champion motocross, stopped competition 2 years ago. When he heard is rival, Jeff Ward, is coming to Mettet, he immediately decided to take his bike again and to beat Ward in Mettet.

We won’t say more … things will be decided on the race track.

You got it: you will be watching a monster fight Everts vs Ward.

Let’s not go to fast ! There are also other champions ready to take the start at the Proximus Superbiker: Stéphane Chambon, Frédéric Fiorentino, Mickael Pichon, Bolley, Coppins, Philippaerts, Demaria, Breugelmans, Godfroid, Delannoy. The speed racers Troy Corser, Le Grelle, Daemen, Laconi, Muggeridge and last but not least the American delegation Cassidy Anderson, Micky Dymond, Ben Carlson, Jeff Ward. Gathering all those champions of different disciplines, that’s only possible in Mettet with its Proximus Superbiker event !

That’s not all ! What would the Proximus Superbiker be without its shows ?

At noon on Sunday Radio Contact will be presenting the beautiful and talented Nâdiya. She will perform her greatest hits, one of them “Et c’est parti …”

After that the RedBull team prepared a huge Free Style show with the world champion MAT REBEAUD. Together with some other dare-devils he will perform a monster demonstration. But don’t forget: it’s to watch, not to try to do the same.

And of course, there will be, as usual, more surprises at the Proximus Superbiker for the entire family at the circuit of Mettet.

Speaking about circuit: on Sunday you will assist at a ceremony for the start of the construction of the new circuit Jules Tacheny de Mettet. The official opening will be in 2009 and the circuit will be dedicated to competition, practice sessions but most of all to MOTO formation (and automobile).
